Wool batting is the loft lover's batting: light, warm, resilient, and beautiful under dense quilting because it springs back and makes stitch definition pop. We carry Hobbs Heirloom Wool, Hobbs Tuscany Wool and Cotton-Wool blend, and Quilters Dream Wool in packages and rolls.
Is wool batting hard to care for?
Modern quilting wools are washable — Hobbs and Quilters Dream wools are resin-bonded or super-washed to resist shrinking. Machine wash cool and gentle, and avoid hot dryers.
Why do show quilters love wool?
Wool has natural loft memory. Dense custom quilting sinks the background and lets motifs puff, giving trapunto-like dimension without extra layers. It is also forgiving of folds — creases hang out quickly.
Is wool too warm for summer?
Wool breathes and regulates temperature better than polyester of the same loft, so wool quilts stay comfortable across seasons.
