Bosal Katahdin is the jelly roll rug batting — 100% cotton batting pre-cut into continuous 2.25 and 2.5 inch strips on 25 and 50 yard rolls, ready to wrap, sew, and coil. We also stock Katahdin Summer (3oz) and Autumn (4oz) flat battings for hand quilters who want a triple-carded, needle-punched cotton with a soft drape.

How much Katahdin do I need for a jelly roll rug?

The classic oval rug takes one 50-yard roll of 2.5in strip paired with one fabric jelly roll. Larger rugs take two.

Summer or Autumn weight?

Summer (3oz) is lighter — ideal for hand quilting and warm-climate quilts. Autumn (4oz) adds body and warmth.

Is the strip batting fusible?

No — you wrap fabric strips around it and sew. No adhesive means no gumming during the long seams of a rug.
